Pretty Flamingo Finished

Well, I've cut to the chase on this one and finished it.  I got too engrossed to stop and upload the interim stages!  I spent rather longer on the background than I normally do, fussing about with the water.  I took a few liberties with the water which I think is ok ~ not much point in slavishly copying the photo since the camera distorts the colours and tones in the actual scene anyway.  I did try and represent the bird accurately though, those feathers were a challenge. Not sure if I'll be doing another bird for a while ... but it's good practice!

It looks almost like pastel on velour Janet ... lovely soft effect.

Thanks Sue, it is a bit 'pastelly' isn't it? I noticed pink smudges on the drawing after uploading it, will have to remedy that. Not sure the paper colour was right for this drawing either ~ too late now! :/

Hi Janet - that wasn't meant as a criticism, I like the 'soft focus' finish. :-)

Its amazing how many effects you can achieve with coloured pencils using different supports/solvents etc isn't it?

Oh no Sue, I didn't see that as a criticism at all! I just noticed some pink smudges on the water ~ I only saw them when I uploaded it! Please do critique anything you see anyway, I like that ~ fresh eyes on a drawing are really useful! :)

I agree with you, I love to see the different ways people work with cps, amazing :)
